How it works

Guidance with people in the room.

Sessions run live on Microsoft Teams, free and open to everyone. Drop into a one-hour Office Hours with your questions, or join a longer hands-on session and build something real alongside the community.

Recognition program

Your contributions deserve to be visible.

Build, teach, maintain, present, or share what you know. The Community Recognition Program turns that work into Credly badges you can carry with you.

Common questions

About sessions

How do I join a session?

One-off hands-on sessions run as Teams Webinars; register from the session listing. For Office Hours, there's a recurring calendar invite (.ics) you can download, or just click the join link at the time it's running. No pre-registration needed.

How long do sessions run?

Hands-on sessions run 1.5-2 hours, long enough to actually work through something together. Office Hours is one hour, and you can drop in with your questions and pop out when you're done.

What topics are covered?

Anything and everything related to contributing to the community. Office Hours can cover specific contribution types, GitHub, community calls, and more. Longer hands-on sessions go deep on topics like creating your first GitHub Pull Request.

Are sessions recorded?

No, and that's intentional. Sessions aren't recorded so everyone feels comfortable asking any question, no matter where they're starting from.

Do sessions cost anything?

Nothing at all. All Sharing Is Caring sessions are free and open to the community.

About contributing

Where do I start?

Contributions range from code and documentation to blog posts and presenting on a community call. There's a path for everyone. If you're not sure where your work fits, Office Hours is a great place to hear what others are doing and find your angle.

What counts as a contribution?

Anything trackable via GitHub, participation in community calls, and special events like Hackathons all count. If you're contributing to the Microsoft 365 & Power Platform community, it likely qualifies.

How do I track where I've contributed?

That's what the Recognition Program is for. Contribute, register your GitHub, and earn Credly badges you can carry on your profile and resume. Learn more →

Do I need to know GitHub to contribute?

Not necessarily, but if GitHub feels intimidating, that's exactly what Sharing Is Caring sessions are here to help with.

Can I present on a community call?

Absolutely. Community calls are open to everyone. Register to present →
